Hüvösvölgy, a neighborhood in Budapest’s Buda side, lies on the city’s western hills about 8 kilometers from downtown. Its name means “cold valley” in English and reflects its fresh and cool air.
The area is a sought-after place to live because of its tranquil and scenic environment. It features greenery, cozy houses, and tree-lined streets, as well as the Svábhegy forest and the Nagykovácsi nature reserve.
The Children’s Railway is one of Hüvösvölgy’s main attractions. It is a narrow-gauge railway that children aged 10 to 14 run and that offers picturesque views of the Buda hills.
Hüvösvölgy also has many cultural and recreational amenities, such as a community center, a sports complex, and various restaurants and cafes. The neighborhood has good public transportation links to the rest of Budapest with several bus and tram routes.
